Together, Re-imagining Gynecology with "Gentle" in Mind.
About us
Aspivix is a medical device company in women’s health, based in Switzerland, developing next-generation devices for gynecology. Our flagship product, Carevix™, is the world’s first suction cervical stabilizer clinically proven to reduce pain and bleeding associated with transcervical procedures commonly performed in gynecology, including IUD insertion, hysteroscopy, cervical biopsies, fertility treatments, and more. Carevix™ is a medical device that has received in 2023 FDA-clearance for the US market, as well as the CE-Mark for the European countries. Carevix™ study published in the international journal, Contraception, in March 2023 demonstrated superiority over the use of a single tooth tenaculum, reducing the pain by up to 73% and the bleeding by up to 78% in IUD insertions. More than 100 million women worldwide have procedures using the antiquated single-tooth tenaculum, an instrument invented over a century ago, without consideration of a woman's anatomy or pain, and yet it is still considered to be the standard of care in gynecology. At Aspivix, we think women deserve more. We are driven by our vision to make gynecology modern.

🇺🇸 First women in the US benefiting from gentle IUD procedures with Carevix 🇺🇸 An important milestone aiming to redefine gynaecology. Performed by Dr Alissa Conklin, an assistant professor of clinical obstetrics and gynaecology at Indiana University School of Medicine, who shared that the first procedures were conducted with ease and provided excellent suction and traction, allowing adequate access without difficulties. The patient reported significantly less pain and no bleeding compared to previous procedures involving traditional tenaculum use. “The suction was perfectly adequate and easy to use, even in a non-traditional position. Carevix allowed us to easily place the IUD when I otherwise could not without cervical traction,” Conklin explained. The patient shared: “It was preferable to prior IUD placement because there was essentially no pain.” Another patient said: “Dr Conklin explained that the common tool [the tenaculum] has been around for a while, so knowing the design of the old tool and comparing it to the one of the new device made me feel like I made the right choice.” Indiana University School of Medicine joins the Carevix Ambassador Program which allows OB/GYNs, midwives and nurses across 12 centres in the US, France, Sweden, Switzerland and Germany to use Carevix in routine gynaecological procedures to provide a better experience for women. Now, more women can benefit from a gentle procedure when getting an IUD. 🌸 Thank you to Dr. Alissa Conklin, Pr. Jeffrey Peipert and the team at Indiana University School of Medicine for driving research to improve women’s care. 🚺 Christina Griffiths Katie O. #gynecology #painmanagement #IUD #contraception #femtech #Womenshealth

The Silent Struggle: IUD Procedures and Mental Health 🤐 Mental health is a fundamental aspect of overall well-being that affects everyone, regardless of gender. However, women often encounter unique challenges related to their mental well-being. Trauma and Pain 💔 Women who undergo traumatic IUD insertion may experience enduring trauma and pain. These distressing experiences can result in lasting emotional scars, significantly impacting their mental well-being. It is crucial to acknowledge and validate this pain. 🩹 Societal Factors 👥 Beyond the physical discomfort, societal factors play a significant role. Gaslighting, bias, gender discrimination, and high rates of domestic violence can exacerbate the emotional toll of IUD procedures. Recognizing these external influences is essential. 🚺 Advocacy and Education 📢 To address this issue, we must actively promote education and advocacy. Raising awareness about IUD experiences, pain management and solution is vital. Healthcare providers need to listen attentively to patients, validating their pain and emotions. By doing so, we create a supportive environment. 🎗️ Improved Pain Management 💊 There is an urgent need to advocate for improved pain management during IUD insertion procedures. Prioritizing pain relief and innovation to reduce unnecessary pain and bleeding can significantly support and enhance women’s mental health throughout the process. Let’s make this a priority. 💪 Women’s mental health matters, and by raising awareness, promoting understanding, and advocating for positive change, we empower women on their health journey. 🌸 Together, We Can Make a Difference 🌟 #FemTech #womenshealth #mentalhealth #painmanagement #IUD
